When you have a job that allows you to catch up with a friend from high school once a year, you realize you have an amazing job. Oh, and when you have a session with multiple fountains and only one kid falls in, you realize it was a great session! :)
This was the first time I met this family, and I kind of fell in love with them. They were so sweet and I just love how much they loved each other. I have way too many favorites, so I apologize in advance for the over-share! :)
A huge, crazy, emotional, mushy THANKYOU to all who came out for my first-ever Mini Sessions in my NEWSTUDIO! Opening a studio is a dream…not one I was ever sure I’d ever really be ready to commit to. BUT, I took the plunge, and our first photo sessions were a success. I didn’t have much yet…one chair to sit on, nothing up on the walls, and I was worried that I wasn’t ready. As soon as I saw all of your smiling faces, I felt the love though. It was so much fun to welcome you all to my new space (one that I hope to have more furniture in soon), and photograph your littles! :) Thank you all for your love during our Valentine’s Day Mini Sessions!
I LOVE the rain, but have to admit that I’m already yearning for those warm summer nights and sandy toes at the beach. This Laguna Beach session was so sweet filled with lots of kisses and snuggles…and that beautiful pastel backdrop that gets me everytime!
I always look forward to photographing this beautiful family! They truly are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and they have been trusting me to capture their girls’ childhood since sweet Emery was still in her Mommy’s tummy. I can’t get over how fast they seem to be growing up. I’m so lucky to be able to see them every year and capture these sweet smiles. :)
One of my FAVORITE families to photograph each year! Mama and I were in the same sorority many moons ago (see what I did there, Dana). :) I just love getting to see them, although I always keep them too long since we end up talking way too much! Thanks for always letting me take ‘just one more’ and for another fun session C Family!
I dare you not to smile when looking at this cute face! Cruz is such an adorable baby and my camera just eats him up. I love every single expression he makes! AND, how is he walking already at his 9 months? Since he is on the move we took his Baby Milestone Session outside, and the afternoon light could not have been prettier. Thank you R family for trusting me to capture his first year!
2016 was a whirlwind! We welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family in March, and by May I was photographing a wedding at The Villa in San Juan Capistrano. Then, it was back to work full time before I knew it. There have been so many wonderful blessings throughout the year, but boy did the end of 2016 kick my butt! I definitely underestimated how hard it would be to keep up a crazy busy photograhy schedule along with having a new baby at home. Ty deserves a Husband of the Year award for taking over many nights when I was busy editing! Even Dylan helped out more than she probably should have with entertaining her little sister while Mommy worked. She begged me to stop working around the holidays (insert Mommy guilt here). So, I literally unplugged my computer as soon as I sent out the last gallery of photos, and haven’t turned it back on until today. Thank you all for your patience as I made myself take some much-needed time off. I feel refreshed and even antsy to get back to photography…with a ton of new ideas I can’t wait to bring to life! :) Since I didn’t blog a single Fall session, you’ll be seeing a lot of those in the coming weeks. Also, the ‘Best of 2016’ Contest will be coming soon. Until then, here are a few of our own family photos taken by the amazingly talented Christie Hobson. I’m so thankful she captured this special time for us. Photography is truly a gift…a way to freeze precious moments in a life that is constantly moving faster and faster. Here’s to an amazing 2017, and remembering to slow down every once in a while to enjoy the wonderful people around us.
Oh how I miss summer. I get it, it’s still hot here. BUT, the non-stop schedules coupled with the colds and flus that are already going around, have me wishing it was still summer! This session at the end of summer was one of my favorites because of the people I shared it with. Aside from being the nicest family on the planet, the kids get cuter and cuter every year while the parents never seem to age. I want to know their secret! Here are a few favorites from our Laguna Beach summer session…
This was the first year Dylan was nervous about going back to school, not that she’d ever admit it. Starting about two nights ago, she couldn’t fall asleep. When I went in her room to talk about the start of her third grade year, she’d slowly pull the sheet over the majority of her face. Only her eyes were peeking out over the top, like she was watching a horror movie. I remember that exact same feeling…wondering what your teacher would be like, if you would be able to find your friends at recess, who you would sit next to at lunch, or even if anyone would be nice to you at all! I know all those jitters will go away as soon as she sees her friends, but I wish I could be there all day to make sure everything goes her way. Heck, I wish I could be there all year! Here’s to all the Moms and Dads sending their kids off to school and to our sweet little ones on their first day back. May it be the best year yet!
…and because she is OBSESSED with all this darn poop emoji stuff, we had to bring this along! :)
